RBTC’s women in tech “WoTech” heads to Virginia Western Community College to get hands on in the mechatronics lab! Join us for a cool STEM experience at Virginia Western’s STEM Building. With a squadron of 3D printers, a CNC mill, a CNC router, a water jet cutting machine, a laser engraver, and more, the Fabrication Laboratory is a great maker space to explore hands-on technology. See how concepts and ideas are made real on a tour of the state of the art Fab Lab.

VWCC’s 72,000-square-foot facility, dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, is the largest on campus and was designed with input from faculty and staff to best serve the region’s growing needs.  Programs in the STEM Building include Mechatronics, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Physics and Mathematics. New cutting-edge equipment fills the space and includes a 24-foot water flume and a collaborative robot.

WoTech events are for women and those who identify as female.

Directions : Maps & Directions – About Virginia Western – Virginia Western Community College

Here is a visual of the path into the College. Coming from the direction of Towers Mall on Colonial, take the first left exit from the first roundabout, go around the big parking lot, go up to Parking Lot 5 (path shown in green). There is a circle for drop-offs you walk through to get to the building, the light blue highlighted building labeled “ST”. When you come through the entrance, the STEM Office is the first door on the right. The room for the lunch will be in Room ST 114 down that hall and we should have a sign up pointing it out.
