Dr. Sofi is creating a smart, patient-responsive high-flow oxygen delivery system that addresses the pain points experienced by health care professionals and patients using the current systems.  He will talk about his journey from idea to prototype, lessons learned, and what he anticipates the future holds.

About the Speaker

Dr. Umar Sofi

Dr. Umar Sofi is an Associate Professor of medicine at Virginia Tech Carilion School of medicine and a pulmonary/critical care physician who is passionate about improving patient outcomes.  Board certifications in Internal medicine, Pulmonary medicine, Critical care medicine and Neurocritical care allow him to analyze and treat a multitude of illnesses with finesse. Teaching and mentoring are part of his persona and he has positively impacted many medical students and physicians in training.  He believes teams can surmount challenges.
